Tips on Staying Warm in the Winter

With the harsh Canadian winters, it can be difficult to stay warm no matter how hard you try. However, there are ways of staying warm even in the face of the harshest and most brutal winter weather. With temperatures dropping to as low as -40 degrees Celsius, it can be dangerous to not take proper measures to ensure that you are as warm as possible. Here are some tips on staying warm this winter season:
Bundle up
It seems like an obvious tip, yet many people fail to properly bundle up before heading out into the snow. The best way to keep warm is to have as many layers as you possibly can, without limiting your mobility. It is a good idea to wear long johns underneath all of your clothes, or even just an undershirt, as it provides an extra layer. Make sure you always wear a long sleeved shirt, sweater, winter jacket, snow boots, scarf, gloves and a hat before heading out the door.  Winter jackets and boots can be costly, but it is well worth the money, as cheap ones will fail to keep you warm. If you do not like wearing gloves because you can not use your phone, you can rest assured because you can buy gloves that are phone screen friendly for about ten dollars at your local Walmart.
Eat hot foods
It is important that in this season you stay away from cold foods, such as ice cream. Your body needs all the warmth it can get and that can also be done through the type of food we eat. Make sure you have a bowl of porridge for breakfast, some soup during the day and stop off at your local Tim Hortons or Second Cup to get a hot chocolate or a coffee. Other foods that help keep you warm are nuts, Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes and many others.
Make sure your home and car are prepared
You do not want to wake up in the morning only to see that there is a sheet of ice on your car that prevents the windshield wipers from doing their job. The best way to avoid this is to leave them up before you go inside, especially if the weather forecast calls for snow. Before you get in your car in the morning, make sure you leave it running with the heater on high, for at least fifteen minutes before you get in. Making sure your home is properly equipped to keep you warm in the winter is crucial. You have to make sure that the windows are properly sealed and that they are not letting in any cold air or letting out any precious warm air.  Also, make sure that your furnace is working properly and if it is not, research furnace repair downingtown pa, and find the best company to do the job.

Tips on Cleaning your Home

It can be tough to maintain your home, especially if you have a full time job, but if you keep cleaning bits of it every day, you will have less cleaning to do on the weekends. If you look at it like a boring and tedious task, it will become that, but if you make it a fun task that you can get the kids involved with, it can be fun for everyone involved. Here are some tips on how to clean your home:
Cleaning your living room
For most families, the most commonly used room of the house is the living room. Whether your kids are jumping on the couches or your pets are shedding hair all over the floor, it can be tough to clean up. After all the hard work of cleaning it, it seems that it gets messy all over again, in a matter of minutes. The best way to prevent this from happening is to get your kids to help out. Each toy they bring to the living room, must be returned to its original spot and your children need to know that. You can make a game of it by saying whoever gets the most toys back in the toy box, can have a treat. Whether you have carpets or not, it is important to clean the living room floor every day. You and your partner can take turns vacuumingit or sweeping it, that way it will not seem like too much work for either of you.
Cleaning your washroom
The washroom can be the part of the house that nobody wants to clean, for obvious reasons. However, it is the most important place to clean in your house, as most of the germs and bacteria in your home stem from the washroom. Start by putting bleach in the toilet and letting it sit for a while before cleaning it with a toilet brush. Scrub the tiles in the shower area with a sponge and some detergent and then just mop up the floors to give it a clean look. You can even put in an air freshener in there that goes off every thirty minutes, to have it smelling fresh all the time.
Cleaning the outside of your home
A lot of people do not consider cleaning the outside of their home. It is good to make sure that there are not any leaves on your porch that may fly into your home and that the drains are all clean and clear from mud and leaves. If you find that your drain does in fact need cleaning, you can just look up drain cleaning West Chester pa, and get professionals to come out and clean it for you.

Roman Blinds Give you More Benefits than Using Traditional Curtains

Many of you are probably wondering why some people take risks by using roman blinds. You can always use the traditional curtains because most people think that it is more elegant and sophisticated than roman blinds. If you also have the same thought about blinds, then you are making a big mistake.

It is true that traditional curtains are elegant and sophisticated, especially when they fit the design of your house`s interior. However, roman blinds offer the same elegance and sophistication as long as you know the right colours and designs to use.

We all know that roman blinds are very popular in the United Kingdom and it might not be a good choice for other countries, but many people from around the globe are slowly switching to roman blinds not only because it is very unique to have one, but because of the different benefits that it provides.

Choosing the Type of Roman Blind

Before you start buying roman blinds, you should know that it is divided into several types including flat, hobbled, stylishly unstructured, pleated balloon and tacked designs. It is important to know more about these types before you buy because they have different designs.

They also come in a wide variety of colours and lengths. Usually, you can find black, red, green and different shades of blue, but you can opt for other colours if you will consider a made to measure roman blind.

They also come in different fabrics such as linen, cotton and silks. You should pay attention to these small details because they all play a vital role in choosing a roman blind.

Roman Blinds are Easy to Handle and Affordable

It is true that installing curtains are quite hard if you do not have any idea how to do it. Most people consider roman blinds as a curtain for beginners because you dont need a lot of help in its installation. There are instructions on how to install roman blinds and it is good enough to make you understand how it is done.

If you compare roman blinds to other types of curtains, they are significantly cheaper. It doesnt matter what kind of style you choose because they are less expensive than your typical curtains. As a matter of fact, you dont have to spend a lot on made to measure blinds.

Functionality and Durability

When it comes to functionality, they are the same with traditional curtains. They block sunlight from entering the house and they provide you privacy by covering your windows. Well, they are called Blinds because they are supposed to cover your windows. They also complement the design of your interior.

Roman blinds are very durable as well because they can last for a long time as long as you know how to take care of them. Always remember that taking care of the blinds depend on the fabric that you are using. Silk is quite delicate so you cannot simply wash them anytime you want. There is a specific instruction on how to wash silk blinds.

If you are still hesitating whether to opt for a roman blind or not, you better look at these benefits before you make a decision.

Eclectic Coach House in Canada with a High Level of Seductiveness

The contemporary eclectic Coach House by French interior designer Stephane Chamard comes with a puzzling level of seductiveness. While its exterior makes one think of a classic home filled with year-old artifacts, the truth is this design scheme is as vivid and up-to-date as possible. Tall ceilings allowed the designer to envision a home fit for royalty, with generously-sized areas answering the living needs of the owners.

An old fireplace with well-kept detailing creates the perfect focal point in the living room, where modern seating elements were fashionably integrated. Its almost impossible not to be instantly attracted towards the red office zone, a special part of the house filled with art and energy. We love the way designer Stephane Chamard harmonized a variety of contrasting elements and how this resulted into a dynamic place of residence. Bursting with personality, this home in Canada is our idea of quality interior design inspiration.

Stylish Eclectic Loft With Clusters Of Art And Framed Photographs

The most creative homes usually belong to designers or artists because they know what they want and how to express it in the best way. I can say that about this home of fashion designer David Delfn and architect-turned-photographer Gorka Postigo in Madrid, Spain. This unique loft with breathtaking high ceilings has been filled with contrasts, provocation and tons of creativity. The space is an eclectic mix that blends a mid-century modern style with a soft industrial backdrop. White painted wooden floors, walls, ceilings and beams douse the entire space in a Scandinavian look and feel, while clusters of art and framed photographs add a sense of modernity. What an incredible job!

Minimalist Apartment With Pops Of Colors

Minimalist spaces are thought to be black and white, simple and with strict lines but this apartment in Taipei, Taiwan, is not like that. Designers from Ganna Design decided to make the apartment colorful and full of joy. The partitions were reduced and replaced with flexible boards to be used as doors. Overall, the apartment became light and open with layers of neutral furnishings punctuated with pops of color. Overall, the color used was a neutral gray, which sets the tone of the space. The gray pairs well with the neon green door and fluorescent orange mirror in the guest bathroom. In the master bedroom, a custom cabinet painted in aquamarine provides plenty of storage space and becomes a focal point in the room.

Mateja Cukala recently sent us some photos of a charming wooden kitchen previously awarded at the Furniture Fair in Ljubljana, Slovenia. According to the designer, Kitchen Partes is made of small pieces of oak veneer. It is not what one may call a big kitchen, yet offers everything a home owner needs. All drawers and upper cabinets can be opened through a modern touch system. Instead of normal high glass vitrine. glass drawers were employed. The cooking place is made of stainless steel and features a glass worktop.
