Contemporary Residence in San Francisco with City Skyline View

The Russian Hill Home was designed JMA (architect John Maniscalco) and is located in San Francisco, CA.  The project blends contemporary living and stylish design and has an overall opulent feel. Large windows and an open floor plan make this home inviting, airy and spacious. Here is more from the architects: This new four-story home establishes an understated but dignified urban presence on an atypically wide San Francisco site. A transitional two-story glass-walled entry hall draws users to an airy and open living level. An increasingly light stair element transitions from floor to floor ultimately arriving at a roof deck enjoying panoramic views. The property features 3 bedrooms, 5 and 1/2 bathrooms, 2 fireplaces, hardwood flooring, security system, spa, steam room, wine cellar and a garage. The Russian Hill House is up for sale on Sothebys for no less than $7,000,000.

Contemporary Dutch House Design House In Museumlaan by Cino Zucchi

This house is located in small Dutch city in south-eastern province of Overijssel, on the border with Germany. Its set among other houses around and has emphasized difference between the face side, defined by dark gray-brown bricks, and the back side, where the private garden is. Even though outside the house looks quite big, inside its far smaller and more intimate. Although there is everything the family could possibly need and even more. Besides having common big living areas there a lot of small extra spaces, generated by the links between house stores and placed almost random manner. The entire house shows the architects love to asymmetry: position of elements (windows, floors, rooms) and a variety of materials used (painted wood, aluminum, glass, brick and so on). The ground floor offers a variety of environments and living spaces: kitchen, dining area, meeting areas, TV room and study. There isnt underground floor in the house because the double garage is integrated into building volume, but there is the tower room with an internal height of 3,7 meters. Even though the project isnt look like usual European house designs its still nice example of contemporary architecture.

Modern And Glamour Sustainable Home Design Verdant Avenue House by Robert Mills

The Verdant Avenue House by Robert Mills Architects is a home that showcases a modern aesthetic, form, function and details alongside the nature. Besides, the home is sustainable without losing in glamour, luxury and pleasure of living there. An 80 year old pin oak tree serves as the focal point for the ground floor living and first floor bedroom areas. A striking 3.5 meter wide spiral staircase is an another focal point on this floor. Floor to ceiling glass windows also add a dramatic touch to the interior. The exterior entertaining spaces separated from the ground floor areas by glass walls and sliding doors. There is a 25 metre lap pool outside, which runs the length of the building and provides natural evaporative cooling to the living areas.

Modern Glass Cube Extension of Victorian Terraced House

Camden Square Conservation Area in London isnt best known for its sleek contemporary architecture, but David Mikhail Architects add touch of it to this Victorian terraced house during its conversion. They demolished one wing of the house and built a new modern white cube extension on its place. The extension has a full-width glazed wall with 5 metre high sliding doors, which extends the living space out to the garden, and maximizes daylight. The floating staircase and architectural angles present an interesting play of lines in this otherwise rather stark interior.

Traditional Japanese House Design in Modern Style by Foster + Partners

The Kawana house is a fusion of the Japanese love of harmony and respect for nature and the Western architecture of steel and glass. It is exploration of traditional Japanese architecture in a modern context. Sited on a dramatic stretch of volcanic coastline where long, inaccessible fingers of lava jut into Sagami Bay, the change in levels across the site and the views out to sea are main things to consider in house design. Full-height glazed sliding doors line the perimeter, allowing the living spaces to open out on t terraces, to capture amazing landscape views around. Its not usual for traditional Japanese architecture to have a lot of light inside the house but that becomes more and more popular in modern. Besides glazed doors and big windows, Kawana house has the roof as a fifth facade of glass.
